The women walked down the stone steps. They were holding hands. It was very dark and cold. Drops of water were running down the walls. The air smelt bad.
“Where is he?” asked the younger woman.
“Quiet!” whispered the older woman. She pointed down the stairs. They could see lights.
“Candles?” asked the younger women.
At the bottom of the steps, they saw an open door.
They heard a voice. They stopped and listened.
The younger woman put her hand over her mouth to stop from screaming. “Oh no! I can’t believe it!”
